The MMB project was started by Melody in 2009 in order to provide individuals with additional needs a chance to explore music in a social environment, as well as to provide future music teachers with an opportunity to develop their skills and confidence.

How we work...

Each participant is given a tutor to work alongside them in order to support their individual needs.

All of the tutors are either present or past students of the Birmingham Conservatoire, and they organise and lead all of the material in each session.

A wide variety of games, songs and pieces are used within the session.  The group has a variety of tuned and untuned percussion, and we enjoy exploring, learning and composing numerous musical activities.

Many of the activities also involve movement, in order to help improve rhythm and co-ordination.

Each term we showcase and share our work in the end-of-term concert.
